Happy Holidays

Dear NCHS Family, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you! I hope that you find comfort and happiness this holiday season in the simple joys of friends and family.   I look forward to 2018 with great optimism for NCHS, and am grateful for our parents and community that cares about our school. I am proud of our teachers and staff that continue to work hard to help your children grow.   We have the most amazing students that are talented and kind. They are truly wonderful people and it is a gift for all of us to be a part of their daily lives. Thank you for all that you do to make NCHS a wonderful school.  I hope that you and your loved ones have a happy and fulfilling holiday season and I wish you all personal and professional happiness in 2018! Weekly Update 12/15

Dear NCHS Family, Recently, we sent a survey to students regarding testing at the high school. 382 students responded to the survey, please see questions below. This is a pretty good sample size and some valuable information was shared by the students that will be used to enhance the learning environment at New Canaan High School. The faculty is addressing the student’s concerns and will report back with an update in the near future. NCHS is determined to have a positive open line of communication with our entire school population. We also asked the students for individual comments on how we could help change not so much the tests but the amount of tests they receive on a given day. This week has been filled with discussion on ways to decrease student stress around testing.  We will continue these conversations into the new year and collectively come up with a plan in the near future. Dear NCHS Family, Progress Reports are now available for viewing.  Please note that you might not see comments for a student with a grade above an 80.  This policy was put in place to ensure detailed comments for students most in need.  If your child did not receive any comments, please feel free to email your child’s teacher to receive more detailed feedback for how they are doing in class. This week marked the beginning of our concert series.  We opened with the Orchestra concert and Mr. Ficks and his students did not disappoint. They showed great range performing classics and modern pieces,  I am always so impressed.   We continue to have great turnout at our parent programs.  This week, we had a 9th grade networking program. The program was on mid-term preparation.  Mr. Sullivan, 9th grade administrator led a panel of experts and spoke to a packed house.   This week's One Second Everyday: This weeks NCTV Broadcast: Be well and stay
