Weekly Update 1/27

Dear NCHS Family, Grades Hopefully the new semester has started on a positive note.  Grades will be available to view at 6pm on Monday evening.  If you have any concerns about grades, please contact your teacher directly.   Program of Studies The course registration process will begin soon.   It is important that students familiarize themselves with our Program of Studies.   The 2017-2018 Program of Studies will be available for viewing the first week in February.   Lockdown Today at 8am, we conducted a modified lockdown. The lockdown was performed by school administration and our school resource officer. All students and staff followed procedures appropriately. If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 203-594-4686 . Therapy Dogs During exams, our National Honor Society had Therapy Dogs visit NCHS. Students had an opportunity to meet the dogs and spend some quality time for stress relief in between exam times. Some of the pictures are below. Best,

Dear NCHS Family, I hope that everyone is doing their personal best on their exams and is happy with their academic success in the first semester.  The beginning of a new semester is a perfect time to establish some goals. Setting goals is an important skill that can help anyone be more successful in life. Studies show that teens who set goals are more likely to succeed academically and have a more positive attitude about school than those who do not set goals.  My hope is that everyone will have a positive high school experience. Just a reminder that The New Canaan High School Scholarship Foundation is celebrating its 50th Anniversary!  NCSF represents a broad-based community effort to provide financial aid to deserving NCHS graduates pursuing higher education at the undergraduate level. We are announcing new and exciting changes to the Foundation. We will continue to have General scholarships and, in addition, new named scholarships. These scholarships can be funded annual

Dear NCHS Family, Next week is the start of mid-terms at the high school.   Click here to see our mid-term schedule .  I hope that everyone is well prepared and feels ready to begin the second semester. Sometimes it is hard to believe how fast a school year can go.  Make sure that you get some rest and do your personal best. The New Canaan Y is opening up their space for mid-term drop in studying. It will be open Monday-Thursday (1/16-1/19) 6:15pm- midnight and Sunday (1/22) 4:00pm-9:30pm. There will be available space for quiet and group studying along with the wellness center and zone open for study breaks. Dear NCHS Family, I hope that everyone had a great first week back to school and has a wonderful 2017!. The NCHS Scholarship Foundation is celebrating its 50 th anniversary this year!  As you may have heard, changes have been made to this year’s annual fundraiser; students will no longer be going door to door asking for donations, but instead may participate this April in the NC Color Run which will benefit the NCSF.  In addition to this, all students will be asked to help support the Foundation by soliciting pledges from family and friends.  Stay tuned, more information will follow soon announcing our goal and the prizes you are eligible to win for your efforts! The ultimate goal of the NCSF is to help as many of you as possible with financial assistance for your undergraduate education.  If you are a senior and are planning on enrolling as a full-time student in a college or university (including technical and vocational schools), you may apply.
