Things are winding down around the English department, and the department is busy finalizing grades and preparing for final exams.

The 9th and 10th grade teams have completed scoring student portfolios, our departmental summative assessments for student writing in those grade levels.  Scores are now available on the portal.

This past Friday, the department participated in the NCHS awards assembly, honoring a number of junior and senior students for outstanding achievement in English.  A complete list of the awards can be seen on the school website, but here are a few pics of the highlights.

Math Department:
The Mathematics Breakfast took place this past Monday morning in the Wagner Room.  Students were recognized for their achievement on the American Mathematics Competition, Moody’s Mega Math Challenge, and the NCHS Math Team.  In addition, those students who were recognized for achievements in mathematics at the Recognition Assembly last week were again honored.  Congratulations to all!

M3 Algebra II students worked in groups to create study guides and study questions for an assigned unit from semester two. Each group presented their work and shared their study guides with their classmates to help each other prepare for final exams.

Advanced TV Broadcasting - Congratulations to NCTV and The Morning Announcements team for being named 'Best News Show' in the2017 Area9 Access Awards! You can watch their winning entry here. With 4 live events over the past the few weeks, including the 3-hour Film Festival and the Recognition Assembly, students have been quite busy. Look for both events to air on the channel soon.

Today was the final Morning Announcements show of the year, but if you missed the live broadcast you can watch it here.

Intro to TV - Students are working on their final project of the year- to produce a live TV show from scratch. Right now, the class is working together rehearsing lines, editing scripts and practicing their studio. Students will perform their final show live during their exam period.

Graphics - Students are finishing up their personal logos and getting their final portfolios together, both of which they'll present during the exam period. For the logo project, initial sketches were drawn first and then a detailed pencil layout was created. From those a final, electronic version is designed on the computer using Adobe InDesign.
